Where do we find the resources to educate children about prescription medications?
D.A.R.E..: A program in the schools around the country that educates the public about the illicit use of drugs in the original sense: street drugs and alcohol. Since 1983, children and teens have exhibited a decreased use of ‘street drugs’ due to the implementation of the D.A.R.E. program in our schools.

How do you dispose of unwanted medications?

Expired or unwanted prescription or over-the-counter medications from households have traditionally been disposed of by flushing them down the toilet or a drain. Although this method of disposal prevents immediate accidental ingestion, it can cause pollution in waste water, which has been demonstrated to cause adverse effects to fish and other aquatic wildlife. When the water is eventually reused, it can also cause unintentional human exposure to chemicals in medications.
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has these recommendations on how to dispose of unwanted medications.

Is it a cold or the flu?

You just returned home after celebrating the holidays with your family and you don’t feel so well. Could it be a cold or worse yet the flu (influenza)? Both viruses attack the respiratory system. While knowing the difference between the two viruses won’t make you feel any better it is also the first step in treatment. Knowing the difference will also help in preventing the spread of it to other coworkers and family members. Express Scripts is a Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM) that processes the claims for various health insurances like Preferred One. These PBMs contract with pharmacies to provide prescriptions to the health insurances they represent. Congress believes the contracting process is negotiated between the 2 entities. In practice it is a take it or leave it process. When Trumm Drug tried to negotiate the contract we were told that, “it is non-negotiable.” Being non-negotiable on a contract that is not acceptable to Trumm Drug puts us in a position of accepting and hoping that it somehow works out or not accepting and loosing valuable customers that need to go to a provider that will contract with the PBM. We have decided to sign the contract with Express Scripts, which …
