FDA Orders Boxed Warnings For Smoking Cessation Drugs

FDA ordered boxed warnings for the smoking cessation drugs Chantix (varenicline) and Zyban (bupropion). The drugs were linked to serious mental health events including depression, hostility and suicidal thoughts. “The risk of serious adverse events while taking these products must be weighed against the significant health benefits for quitting smoking,” stated Janet Woodcock, director of the agency’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. Number-one on the list of best-paying jobs for women is pharmacist, according to Forbes magazine. Dr. John Early, dean of the University of Toledo’s College of Pharmacy, stated that pharmacy is a career build for women. “Women are likely to be more engaging and show more caring of patients than we men,” stated Dr. Early.
