Study: One-Third Of Reproductive-Age Women Share Meds
Borrowing and sharing of prescription medications is common practice among more than one-third of women of reproductive age, according to a report in Journal of Women’s Health. Women of reproductive age (18-44 years) are more likely to report this practice (36.5%) than are other aged women (19.5%). Allergy medications (43.8%) and pain medications (42.6%) were the types of drugs most commonly borrowed or shared by reproductive-aged women. In the overall survey of more than 25,000 women and men, 28.8% of women and 26.5% of men reported ever borrowing or sharing prescription medications. Census: Number Of Uninsured Declined By 1.3 Million In ’07
The number of people without health insurance coverage declined from 47 million (15.8% of total population) in 2006 to 45.7 million (15.3% ) in 2007, according to a report from the U.S. Census Bureau. The number of uninsured children declined from 8.7 million in 2006 to 8.1 million in 2007. Both the number and percentage of uninsured for non-Hispanic whites decreased in 2007, to 10.4% and 20.5 million, respectively. For blacks, the number of uninsured remained statistically unchanged from 2006, at 7.4 million, while the percentage declined from 20.5% in 2006 to 19.5% in 2007. The uninsured rate for Asians rose from 15.5% in 2006 to 16.8% in 2007. The number and percentage of uninsured Hispanics decreased from 15.3 million and 34.1% in 2006 to 14.8 million and 32.1% in 2007. Census Bureau Press Release
